Zynq® UltraScale+™ RFSoC ZCU111 evaluation kit, featuring the industry’s only single-chip adaptable radio platform, enables designers to jumpstart RF-class analog for high-performance RF applications. Zynq UltraScale RFSoC ZCU111 evaluation kits ship with the XM500 RF Balun add-on card to enable users to evaluate performance over a wide range of use cases including high band, low band, and differential configurations on distinct RF channels.
While the telecommunication industry is rapidly moving toward 5G, existing LTE deployment continues to grow and will last for quite some time. Band 42 (3.5GHz) is a popular worldwide band for TD-LTE, 5GNR, and CBRS, and is being used for massive MIMO systems. Building and prototyping these systems requires excellent channel-to-channel performance, and system designers need to characterize all input and output channels at the same band.
For users who need to evaluate Band 42 performance on all channels, Xilinx Partner Whizz Systems offers the WS-508 Band 42 RFMC add-on card that integrates Band 42 Balun transformer and connectors, providing a full 8x8 single-ended interface to the Zynq UltraScale+ RFSoC XCZU28DR device on a ZCU111 board. Whizz Systems followed Xilinx’s recommended high-performance RF board design guidelines to design their daughter card to optimize the performance. The WS-508 mates directly with the ZCU11 RFMC connectors and provides a full 8x8 Band 42 break-out for prototyping with ZCU111 board.
All of these RFSoC boards, cards, and tools provide the necessary framework for RF-class designers to hit the ground running and take advantage of the RFSoC silicon advantage and technology.
