Sysgen does not open if launched from the shortcut or program group. There is no visible indication that anything has been run or attempted to run, and there are no messages to indicate the source of the problem.
Is this a known issue, and why does it occur?
This can happen with Vivado 2013.1 and 2013.2 tools when no MATLAB version is installed or found in the user's PATH environment variable.
If Sysgen is envoked from the command line, an informative error occurs as follows:
ERROR: Could not find matlab 64-bit executable in the path. Please add the path to a matlab 64 bit executable to the PATH environment variable and try launching System Generator for DSP again.
ERROR: matlab does not exist
This issue has been resolved for 2013.3 and 2013.4 tools in that when Sysgen is envoked from the shortcut or icon, the Sysgen Configurator pops-up with a DOS prompt stating that no MATLAB installation is found.
After clicking OK on the configurator, an error dialog pops-up:
After clicking OK on this dialog box, both the DOS prompt and the Sysgen session will be closed.
In future tools, an error similar to that produced in the command line flow might be added.
